High School CLUBS
Looking for an extracurricular activity? We encourage our students to participate in as many extracurricular activities that their schedule and capacity with schoolwork will allow. Clubs are a great opportunity to form long-lasting friendships, challenge yourself outside of the classroom, and hone your talents. We hope you find a club that suits your interests! If you can’t find what you are looking for, let us know so we can add it to our list.
Book club is a group that meets once a month in the library during Wildcat time. Every month, we give students a book with which to read for the next book club the following month. At the next meeting, there will be discussions, activities, and a new book. Twice a year, before winter break and summer break, there will be an after school movie and pizza party for members to enjoy. Challenge yourself to learn about new genres of literature, and pick up a good book.
For more information, contact Will McGee.
Chess club is a Wildcat time activity on Friday’s when there is no book club. This is the perfect extracurricular activity for anyone who would like a mental challenge, but is unable to attend after school events. Students will compete against one another in the friendly confines of the library.

Rube Goldberg is a competition named after cartoonist Reuben Lucius Goldberg, who satirized machines and gadgets that he deemed “excessive” in his award-winning cartoons. His cartoons combined simple machines and common household items to create complex, wacky, and diabolically logical machines that accomplished mundane and trivial tasks. His inventions became so widely known that dictionaries added “rube goldberg” to their listings, defining it as “accomplishing by extremely complex, roundabout means what seemingly could be done simply.” What makes a good Rube Goldberg Machine? The machine works; when it starts, it runs all the way through to completion with no human intervention and completes the required task. It has a unifying theme. While no team is penalized for having electrically powered steps, mechanical steps are more in the spirit of Rube Goldberg’s machines and tend to impress judges more. The machine has at least 20 clearly visible steps.
